Subject Arresteded for Selling Heroin

Over the past few months, detectives from the Lake Havasu City Police Department’s Special Investigations Unit, which is part of the Mohave Area General Narcotics Enforcement Team (MAGNET) have been conducting an investigation into a subject selling heroin from a residence in the 3500 block of South Jamaica Boulevard.

On Wednesday, May 2, during surveillance of the area, the subject was observed leaving the residence on a motorcycle.  A traffic stop was initiated around 8:30 p.m., and 37-year-old Lake Havasu City resident Anthony A. Gonzales was taken into custody for possession of stolen property after it was discovered that the motorcycle he was riding had been stolen several weeks ago in Lake Havasu City.

Later in the same evening, at approximately 9:30 p.m., the Lake Havasu City Police Department SWAT team served a search warrant at Gonzales’ residence in the 3500 block of South Jamaica Boulevard.   During the service of the search warrant, detectives located approximately 28 grams of heroin, a usable amount of methamphetamine, numerous items of drug paraphernalia and three firearms.

As a result of the investigation, Anthony A. Gonzales was charged with possession of narcotic drugs for sale, possession of dangerous drugs, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of stolen property and misconduct involving weapons.  During his initial appearance, Gonzales was held on a Fifty-Thousand cash only bond and transferred to the custody of the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office.

Two additional subjects, 34-year-old Lindsay J. Whitney and 57-year-old Teresa L. Smith, both Lake Havasu City residents were each charged with possession of dangerous drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia after being located at the residence during the search warrant.

Whitney was held on a ten-thousand cash only bond and transferred to the custody of the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office.

Smith was held on a two-hundred dollar bond and transferred to the custody of the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office.
