ON 05/03/17 AT APPROX. 1428 HOURS, DARREN JOHN COLELLA (32) OF LAKE HAVASU CITY WAS ARRESTED NEAR THE INTERSECTION OF HIGHWAY 95 AND S. MCCULLOCH BOULEVARD. FOR POSSESSION OF DANGEROUS DRUGS, POSSESSION OF MARIJUANA AND TWO COUNTS OF POSSESSION OF DRUG PARAPHERNALIA (METHAMPHETAMINE / MARIJUANA) AFTER HE WAS CONTACTED AS THE DRIVER AND SOLE OCCUPANT OF A 1997 FORD EXPLORER DISPLAYING AN LICENSE PLATE OF DURING A TRAFFIC STOP AND THE INVESTIGATION REVEALED THAT HE WAS IN POSSESSION OF 4.6 GRAMS OF METHAMPHETAMINE, A USABLE AMOUNT OF MARIJUANA AND ITEMS OF DRUG PARAPHERNALIA ASSOCIATED WITH BOTH METHAMPHETAMINE AND MARIJUANA. THE INITIAL TRAFFIC STOP WAS CONDUCTED AFTER DET. D. WILSON #234 OBSERVED THE FORD EXPLORER CROSS THE DOUBLE YELLOW LINE NEAR MILE MARKER 172 IN ORDER TO OVERTAKE OTHER VEHICLES ON THE ROADWAY. I WAS ALSO ABLE TO OBSERVE A LARGE STUFFED ANIMAL HANGING FROM THE REAR VIEW MIRROR THAT OBSTRUCTED THE DRIVER`S VIEW. DURING THE TRAFFIC STOP, DETECTIVE MARTINEZ WITH THE LA PAZ TASK FORCE ARRIVED ON SCENE AND CONDUCTED AN OPEN AIR SNIFF AROUND THE VEHICLE WHICH HIS DRUG DETECTION K-9 (RINGO) ALERTED TO THE PRESENCE OF DRUGS. DURING A SEARCH OF THE VEHICLE, THE ITEMS OF EVIDENCE WERE LOCATED AND COLLECTED.
