Detectives from the Lake Havasu City Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Unit conducted a child molestation investigation after the police department was notified by the Department of Child Safety of possible child abuse. On December 6, 2016, detectives arrested 28-year old Nick Ray Scott Ward for child molestation, two counts of aggravated assault on a minor and child abuse after the investigation revealed that Ward inappropriately touched an 8-year old female while she was under the care of Ward. This incident occurred sometime within the last two months. In a separate incident, Ward impeded the breathing of his 6-year old son by putting his hands over the boy’s neck and mouth. This incident occurred within the last week.

The police were notified on December 2, 2016, by the Department of Child Safety of possible abuse taking place. Detectives took over the investigation and conducted forensic interviews with the victims where the disclosures of molestation and abuse were made.




Ward has his initial appearance on December 7, 2016, and is being held without bond. Ward was transferred to the custody of the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office.
