Thursday, January 7th at approximately 2:33 PM two officers were dispatched to the area of HWY 95 and Mesquite Avenue in reference to a warrant arrest. While en route, dispatch advised that Richard Gainey, 43, out of Mohave Valley had left Havasu Regional Medical Center after seeking medical services, and had a Failure to Appear Warrant, with a safety caution for “Violent Tendencies, Drug User, and served prison time for Assault on a Police Officer”.

Gainey was met by officers on the walking path on HWY 95 at Mile Post 182.5, where Gainey was attempting to hitch hike. One of the officers drew his firearm and ordered Gainey not to move, while the other officer ordered Gainey to the ground where he was handcuffed.

Gainey admitted he left the hospital in an attempt to avoid arrest for his Failure to Appear Warrant issued by Judge Conn out of Superior Court.
