Thursday, February 4th at approximately 6 PM Cody Randall Espinoza, 32, out of West Valley Utah was arrested at the west stairs of the London Bridge Resort after officers observed a black 2002 Chevy 2500 truck parked in the parking lot of Javalina Cantina parked in a handicap spot and a records check revealed the vehicle to belong to Espinoza, who was wanted in connection to a Domestic Violence call the previous day.

The officer made contact with the subject that had gotten into the vehicle, which was Cody’s girlfriend – whom gave a description of what Cody was wearing. At that same time, Cody exited Javalina Cantina and fled on foot with officer in chase. The officer caught up with Cody and drew his duty weapon on him due to Cody reaching into his right pocket and taking a bladed stance similar to someone preparing to draw a weapon. Just prior to being taken into custody, Cody had thrown several counterfeit $20 bills with matching serial numbers onto the ground, and had several more in his wallet with the same serial numbers.

4 Bills had one matching serial number, 2 had another, 2 had a completely separate, 3 with another. The paper was not consistent with paper used for U.S. Currency. Some of the bills looked hand-cut and crooked. One of the bills had not printed correctly on the back and was 1/4 white paper. Interview with Espinoza’s ex-wife it was learned that Cody had been caught in Utah with counterfeit money and had an upcoming court date.

Cody Espinoza was booked on Forgery-Possession of Forged Instrument and Failure to Comply Warrant.
